Oxford Guild of Tour Guides is the professional association of freelance guides who provide tours of Oxford and beyond. Our guides have had extensive training and hold the Blue or Green Badge qualifications accredited by the Institute of Tourist Guiding ( ITG). All guides are experienced and fully insured.

The best way to enjoy Oxford, the City, the University and the Colleges is to take a walking tour with a qualified guide. You will see the main sights, the historic buildings and hear about the people who have studied here as well as the ceremonies and traditions. Your guide can help you plan your visit in many different ways with advice about what to see and do or interesting places to eat and drink both in Oxford and the wider area.

Guides offer a wide range of tours – the general University and City tour is a good introduction and usually lasts 90 minutes to 2 hours. You may enjoy a more specialist tour such as Inspectors Morse and Lewis or Harry Potter and Alice, as Oxford has been the backdrop for many films and TV series. Or perhaps take a walk in the footsteps of famous authors or scientists, or see the wonderful stained glass in the Colleges.

More widely some guides are able to take you on tours of the Cotswolds or Blenheim Palace or Bampton where scenes from Downton Abbey were filmed.

Our guides also offer tours in different languages. Our aim is for you to have an enjoyable and memorable experience. We look forward to welcoming you to Oxford and showing you this beautiful City.
